How to set a custom domain for your Parent Portal

Branded Domain Name

To brand your Parent Portal domain name, all you have to do is add a DNS CNAME record which points to our Parent Portal service. Your default url should look something like this:

To change this domain to your own custom one, let us know the domain you wish to use.

Let’s use ‘parents.superawesome.com‘ as an example.

Create a CNAME record for:

point it our default url

That’s it, let us know you’re done and we will take care of the rest.

Branded Sender Email

To brand your Parent Portal sender email address, you will need to add some SPF and DKIM DNS records to the domain you wish to use. This is just for the parent domain:

SPF Record:

v=spf1 include:spf.mandrillapp.com ?all

IMPORTANT: If you already have a TXT record with SPF information, you’ll need to add Mandrill’s servers to that record by adding include:
spf.mandrillapp.com the record (before the last operator, which is usually ?all, ~all, or -all).

DKIM Record

Add a new TXT record with the name mandrill._domainkey.yourdomain.com (just replace yourdomain.com with the domain you’re setting up).

The content of this record should be set as below:

IMPORTANT: Some DNS providers require ; to be escaped using \ characters. If this is the case you should use:

Once these records are set for your domain of choice we will confirm them before changing settings within your KWS instance.
